sparta science

"Organizations, teams, and athletes rely on Sparta Science for musculoskeletal injury risk evaluation, increasing physical fitness and performance."

Force Plate Machine Learning (FPML)

Sparta Science is the industry’s gold standard for force plate machine learning that predicts, improves, and validates individual and team availability. With a simple and valid scan per person, organizations increase fitness levels, prevent injuries, and accurately predict team readiness using the world’s largest machine learning force plate database.

Force Plate Machine Learning™ software, or FPML™, leverages Machine Learning with data collected from force plate technology to identify how you move and provide recommended training plans to treat preexisting conditions, reduce future injuries, and optimize your performance.

FPML™ software delivers your Scan results instantly, including your Sparta Score™ and MSK Health, identifies your strengths and weaknesses, and automatically generates personalized Machine Learning exercise recommendations for movement health improvement. Online access and reporting optimizes engagement, demonstrates progress, and improves outcomes.

3 SCANS IN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES

Individuals complete up to three unique assessments that provide objective data in a range of metrics. The software then leverages insights from the database that contains over a million scans to identify the individual’s potential risk for injury.

Training recommendations are then provided based on that risk and the types of activities in which they engage and can be tailored for each individual through The byrizz™ Rehab and Performance App available for both iOS and Android.

Jump Scan, Plank Scan & Balance Scan

  • The Jump Scan is used to characterize an individual’s dynamic movement strategy which relates to how they complete any movement. Whether climbing the stairs, lifting a box, or landing after a slam dunk, this simple, holistic movement demonstrates how efficiently each individual creates, transfers, and applies force.
  • The Plank Scan measures your core’s ability to control your body from side to side and top to bottom and can predict the risk of sustaining neck, core, back, and shoulder injuries.
  • The Balance Scan can determine the likelihood of sustaining a leg injury, having a fall, or even serve as an early warning sign of Parkinson’s disease and diabetes.

"It's not about how high you jump - it is about how well you move"

The Database

The database is one of the key differentiators of the Sparta System versus simply utilizing the hardware (force plate) alone. While a force plate and some simple data acquisition software can give us absolute measures of force, without a database this data is much less meaningful (and potentially just bad/unreliable).

The 10 + year-old Sparta database of both assessment data (Jump, Balance, Plank) and outcome data (injuries, performance) is really the true value behind the Sparta system. Utilizing this massive volume of data, along with different research and data science techniques is what allows us to identify meaningful information that relates to risk and performance, and ultimately gives us the best evidence-based plan to enhance an individual's movement.

"Predict injury risk - Improve health and performance - Validate your team success."

The Sparta Score

The Sparta Score allows for a holistic measure of movement efficiency by analyzing each individual’s Movement Signature. Individuals will often show different relationships within their Movement Signature related to genetics, movement history, and training history.

The goal is to improve movement efficiency, by decreasing these imbalances and increasing overall values. We quantify this using the Sparta Score, as a single number that represents an individual’s global movement efficiency. In general, a higher Sparta Score is desired. This value can be utilized to compare individuals as well as a monitor or track an individual’s progress over time.

Musculoskeletal Health

MSK Health is based on the latest machine-learning techniques and directly represents an individual's health, inversely related to their injury risk. A score of 50 represents an average MSK Health, while a higher value represents better health and a lower risk of future injury. For every 10 points increase in MSK Health, the relative injury risk decreases by 20%. For For example, an individual with an MSK Health of 60 is 20% less likely (or .8x) than the average person to suffer a musculoskeletal injury.

RETURN TO PLAY (RTP)

Injury rehabilitation protocols are predicated on subjective measurements that, while often successful, limit the practitioner and athlete from full confidence in each step along the way.

Using Sparta Science technology in the rehabilitation process provides objective measurements that offer a full-body assessment of strength and proprioception to ensure that the RTP is safer for the athlete. Including Sparta Science for Injury Rehabilitation will allow the practitioner to objectively assess strength, balance, proprioception, and movement to guide criteria-based rehabilitation protocols.
